Catering Lead Cook
Location: Scottsdale
Compensation: $20-$22/hr, depending on work experience!
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Catering Lead Cook, your role will go beyond prep - you will be responsible for both kitchen preparation and acting as the onsite event chef during catering functions. This position requires strong culinary skills, event execution experience, and leadership in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate closely with the culinary and operations teams to ensure food quality, presentation, and timeliness meet The Herb Box and Pivot Culinary Management standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of culinary experience, including ordering and inventory management.
WORK HOURS
This role is required to work a minimum of 20 - 29 or 30 - 39 hours per week. Flexibility is essential - schedules will vary based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and occasional travel for offsite events.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead kitchen prep for catering events, ensuring quality, consistency, and readiness.
- Act as the onsite event chef, overseeing setup, cooking, plating, and breakdown.
- Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Follow recipes and presentation standards.
- Safely and efficiently operate standard kitchen equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations and kitchen areas.
- Ensure proper food handling, rotation, and storage to guarantee freshness.
- Manage food and supply ordering under the direction of the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Assist in maintaining inventory levels and conducting regular stock checks.
- Support and lead kitchen staff during event execution as needed.
- Adhere to all sanitation, food safety, and production codes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 1 year of catering or event chef experience.
- Experience with ordering and inventory management required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Flexible and adaptable to varying event locations and working conditions.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
