Heavy Civil Superintendent - Charlotte

Salary: Summary At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to oversee and coordinate slipform and fixed-form concrete paving operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that all paving activities meet FAA, USACE, and state DOT specifications while leading field teams to deliver high-quality finished pavements. Starting in Charlotte, NC, this position requires up to 100% travel to future project locations such as Nashville, TN, Columbia, SC, and other future project locations. If you're a hands-on leader with a strong background in heavy civil construction and paving, this is an excellent opportunity to manage high-profile infrastructure projects while working with an expert team. What You'll Do: Lead and manage multiple foremen and crew members. Plan and coordinate work schedules, labor assignments, and material deliveries. Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and oversee on-the-job training. Inspect grade, forms, and steel placement to ensure compliance before concrete placements. Oversee slipform paving operations using GOMACO paving equipment with stringless technology. Direct and implement fixed-form paving operations. Monitor placement, finishing, and curing operations to meet strict specifications. Identify field challenges, inaccuracies, or cost-saving opportunities and take corrective action. Track and report employee work hours and job costs. Enforce safety regulations from governing authorities and site-specific safety plans. What We Look For: Experience: 5+ years as a Paving Foreman, Superintendent, or related site management role (preferred). Experience with GOMACO paving equipment (preferred). Safety Expertise: OSHA training or advanced safety certifications (preferred). Leadership & Attention to Detail: Ability to manage crews, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and ensure precision. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to effectively coordinate with teams. Valid drivers license required. Must be able to travel overnight up to 100% based on project needs. Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones (such as Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.). Physical capabilities include climbing, lifting, carrying at least 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, working in confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive motions.
