Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Manager the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will:

  • Collaborate with the Physical Therapist by reporting and discussing patient status, promptly communicating changes, and scheduling consultations as needed.
  • Seek approval from the Physical Therapist before making any changes to an established treatment program.
  • Administer patient treatments based on the Physical Therapist's evaluation or reassessment.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain productivity in line with departmental standards.
  • Appropriately delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel.
  • Contribute to case management and coordination of patient rehabilitation services.
  • Perform non-clinical duties that support the efficient daily operations of the department.
  • Actively participate in departmental, hospital, or community programs and/or meetings each year.
  • Provide education, orientation, training, supervision, and mentorship to co-workers, new staff, volunteers, observers, and at least one student annually.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree from an accredited program for Physical Therapist Assistants
  • Current licensure as a PTA in the state of Ohio required.
  • BLS certification required within 30-days of hire.
  • Requires effective communication and the analytical skills necessary to implement planned treatment programs, identifying changes in patient's condition, and adjusting activities accordingly.
  • Demonstrates acceptable work performance by exhibiting a positive and constructive attitude, initiative, dependability, cooperation, and skill in verbal and written expression.
  • Abides by the Code of Ethical Conduct as defined by the APTA.
