Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to nursing staff and healthcare providers. The CNA assists patients with daily living activities (ADLs), provides basic patient care, and ensures a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients. Under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs), the CNA plays a vital role in enhancing the overall patient experience and well-being. Key Responsibilities:

* Patient Care: * Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, and mobility. * Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate. * Provide assistance with positioning, transferring, and ambulation (e.g., using a walker, wheelchair, or other assistive devices). * Assist patients with personal hygiene needs and ensure a clean, comfortable environment. * Health Monitoring: * Observe and report any changes in patients' physical or emotional condition to the supervising RN or LPN. * Assist with simple medical procedures as directed by nursing staff, including wound care, catheter care, and basic rehabilitation exercises. * Monitor patient comfort levels, report signs of pain or distress, and support comfort measures. * Patient Support: * Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, offering comfort and reassurance as needed. * Promote patient independence where possible and encourage self-care. * Assist patients with social activities and engage them in appropriate recreational activities. * Documentation: * Record patient data, including ADLs, vital signs, and other health observations in patient charts or electronic health records (EHRs). * Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with healthcare facility standards and regulations. * Communication and Team Collaboration: * Work closely with RNs, LPNs, doctors, and others in the healthcare team members to provide coordinated patient care. * Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding care plans and patient needs. * Participate in care meetings and contribute to patient care planning and updates as needed.

Qualifications:

* Education: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Completion of a Kansas approved CNA training program. * Certification/Licensure: * Valid CNA certification in the state of employment. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification may be required, depending on the employer. * Experience: * Previous CNA experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, but not always required. * Skills and Abilities: * Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. * Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures. * Ability to lift, move, and assist patients with mobility. * Proficient in using medical equipment, such as thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, and patient monitoring devices.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to lift and move patients (often up to 50 pounds or more). * Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods. * Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment and assist patients with mobility.

Work Environment:

* CNAs work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, home health, and hospice care. * The work environment may include exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and other health hazards; proper infection control measures must be followed.

Schedule:

* Full-time, part-time, or per diem positions may be available. * Flexible hours, including evening, night, and weekend shifts, may be required.
