Medical Assistant Position at Mercy

Find your calling at Mercy! Medical Assistants (MA) in the medical office setting support providers by delivering direct and indirect patient care in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. The MA may assist with clinical procedures, maintains accurate documentation, and provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The MA functions within their defined scope of practice (based on office type clinic/HOD), under supervision, and in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards of care.

Position Details: Mercy Women's Health OB-GYN Mercy Hospital St. Louis New Ballas Road Clinic Towers Medical Assistant PRN - Float

This position will float to 20 OB-GYN clinics in the St. Louis area. Medical Assistant or healthcare experience preferred. Pre-Med students welcome to apply if you can meet the position requirements below.

PRN requirements:

  • Available 24 hours/month
  • Available during the hours of 7a-5p on days available to work
  • Can travel to all Mercy Clinic OBGYN locations in the St. Louis Region, not just the Medical Towers

Overview:

Prepares patient for visit with provider by completing Advanced Standard room process including entering the chief complaint; taking patient vital signs; reviewing patient history and allergies; completing a thorough medication reconciliation; working the Encounter Guide including helping to close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exams; rechecking elevated blood pressures; and completing needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits as needed. Assists with any needed in-office testing including, but not limited to, drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKG's, walking oxygen studies and point of care testing. Administer vaccines and other injections within scope of practice. Schedules follow up appointments when needed per office policy. Collaborates with providers and clinical care team to monitor and coordinate delivery of the care plan.

Qualifications:

Medical Assistant: Education: High School Diploma or GED. Certification: Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Preferred Experience: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience

Certified Medical Assistant: Education: High School Diploma or GED. Certification: Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA). Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire
