Job Summary

The Mixologist is a creative beverage professional responsible for delivering elevated bar experiences through expertly crafted cocktails, innovation in beverage programming, and deep product knowledge. This role goes beyond traditional bartending by focusing on artistic presentation, unique flavor profiles, house-made ingredients, and the overall sensory experience. The Mixologist will also play a key role in training bar staff, assisting with inventory and cost control, and ensuring that all beverages are served according to established quality and safety standards.


Education & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in a high-end or craft cocktail bar; experience in a luxury hospitality setting is preferred.

• Proven expertise in classic and contemporary cocktails, flavor pairings, and mixology techniques.

• Experience with house-made ingredients, infusions, syrups, bitters, and sustainable bar practices.

• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages under local law.

• Strong customer service skills.

• Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).

• Safety and Food Handling Certification.

• Valid Alcohol Training Certification (TIPS)

• Valid Health Certificate (including throat culture results) as required by the Puerto Rico Department of Health.

• Has the ability to maintain strong attention to detail, ensuring each cocktail is crafted with precision, high-quality ingredients, and elegant presentation in alignment with brand and luxury standards.

• Can expertly pair cocktails with food menus, understanding flavor profiles, balance, and guest preferences to enhance overall dining experiences.

• Has the ability to develop and innovate signature cocktails, using premium ingredients, modern techniques (e.g., fat washing, smoking, clarification), and creative garnishes to deliver memorable experiences.

• Has a keen eye for presentation, ensuring all drinks are served with flawless garnish, pristine glassware, and a sophisticated visual appeal.

• Can manage time effectively and prioritize tasks while maintaining consistency and quality during high-volume periods or special events.

• Has the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak service times, to meet guest and operational demands.

• Has the ability to communicate with clarity and professionalism, engaging guests with enthusiasm.

• Can educate guests and colleagues on cocktail ingredients, preparation techniques, and the stories behind the drinks to create a more immersive and personal bar experience.

• Has knowledge of luxury service standards such as Forbes Travel Guide or AAA Diamond Rating, and incorporates those standards into every guest interaction.

• Can maintain composure and a polished demeanor in a fast-paced, high-end hospitality environment while upholding service excellence and guest satisfaction


Physical Requirements

• Flexible and long hours are sometimes required.

• Must be able to stand or walk for an entire shift.

• Routinely required to bend, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.

• Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

• Must have the physical stamina and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.

• Requires manual dexterity to operate bar tools and prepare intricate garnishes.
