Plumber I The Facilities Management Division (FM) within General Services is seeking a task-oriented, highly skilled Plumber to join Team B, supporting Public Safety Facilities. This role provides essential plumbing services for Denver Fire Department stations and Denver Police substations, which are occupied 24/7. We are seeking an individual who genuinely enjoys troubleshooting challenges across a wide range of environments. The person selected for this role will become part of a world-class team that supports agencies and facilities throughout the City and County of Denver. Plumber I responsibilities include: Performs preventative maintenance, maintenance and repair work on all plumbing systems and fixtures in accordance with agency or department standards and code requirements Installs or alters new or upgraded plumbing systems and fixtures for the purpose of construction, tenant finishing or remodeling according to diagram specifications and code requirements Responds to plumbing service or trouble calls, troubleshoots and provides problem resolution Performs plumbing camera scope work regularly to determine infrastructure needs Inspects, maintains and repairs various types of fire protection systems Maintains, tests, and installs devices for the prevention of backflow, back siphonage or cross connection Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports Estimates materials, labor and equipment costs Assists in the maintenance and repair work in a variety of skilled trades areas Participates in mandatory snow removal duties Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: Willingness to work in environments that may include individuals experiencing homelessness. The candidate may be required to assist with plumbing needs at warming shelters activated during extreme weather conditions. Experience installing, diagnosing, and repairing pumps, sewer mains/lines, lift stations, fire protection systems preferred. Experience working with heating water systems, including Domestic Cold to Hot, Domestic Cold to Heating Water, and Domestic Cold to Steam configurations. Emphasis on creating a proactive approach to all plumbing systems to insure no disruptions in operations of a 24/7 Public Safety Facility. Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate Experience Requirement: One (1) year of journey-level plumber experience maintaining, repairing, and constructing plumbing systems and equipment Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements Licensure: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
