The Developer Experience organization within Infrastructure is on a mission to make Coinbase the leading platform for developers, enabling rapid and joyful product development and delivery. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Server Foundations team, where we focus on enhancing efficiency through foundational excellence. As a Software Engineer, you will: Create, maintain, and improve software development frameworks and shared libraries for backend engineers at Coinbase.

Develop user-centric abstractions to simplify and standardize feature offerings.

Enhance the performance, automation, and standardization of our gRPC services.

Understand and address the long-term needs of our backend engineering infrastructure.

Contribute to technical discussions and collaborate with various teams on design decisions.

Communicate effectively to gather requirements and identify improvement areas for our development framework.

Create clear documentation and diagrams to convey concepts and architectures to colleagues and users.

Tackle and manage complex technical issues, ensuring effective communication and resolution.

Support our existing infrastructure offerings to ensure high service quality and availability.

Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, Security, vendors, and the Infrastructure organization.

Stay updated on industry developments and best practices, making forward-thinking recommendations.

What we seek in you: A minimum of 2+ years of experience in software engineering, specifically with large-scale backend systems.

Proficiency in a modern tech stack, including languages like Go and communication via gRPC.

Experience in building frameworks and shared libraries for large organizations.

Skills in refactoring legacy code and removing unnecessary logic.

A strong commitment to quality, self-motivation, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Problem-solving abilities that include identifying root causes and driving solutions.

An understanding of balancing business needs with technical solutions.

Experience scaling backend infrastructure effectively.
